1:30-5:00 pm WORKSHOP E

China Concentrates & Pellet Demand and Sintering & Pelletizing Processing Technology

As China concentrates and pellet demand keeps increasing in recent years, Direct Shipping Ore (DSO) is largely imported for sintering and pelletizing by China steel mills mainly from America, Europe, Australia, Oceania, etc. As DSO resources are becoming limited year by year, concentrates and pellet consumers will pay more concern on the processing of raw ore, using beneficiation to produce shippable magnetite concentrates. It requires higher costs to cover the advanced processing technology. More and more foreign miners have their capacity expansion projects, and some newly-expanded capacity will be released within the coming years.

Hereby, Mysteel would like to invite experts from the China iron ore mining industry to introduce China concentrates and pellet demand and the processing technology, in order to create more values on foreign iron ore miners’ market strategy decisions in 2014.

1) Analysis on China Environmental Protection Policy’s Effect Against China Iron & Steel Industry

2) China Concentrates and Pellet Demand Tendency

3) Quality Requirements on Concentrates for Sintering

4) Quality Requirements on Concentrates and Pellet for Blast Furnace Processing

5) What is the applicable structure of the Proportion of Sinter Raw Materials for Blast Furnace Processing

What services will you gain for free?

1:00-2:30 pm WORKSHOP A

The Plight of the Iron Ore Market and Its Development in 2014

Steel mills` tight capital and unsymmetrical prices between iron ore and steel products bring the Chinese steel industry to the brink of losses gradually. Under such circumstances, how will steel mills balance their incomes and expenditures to improve the current difficulties? This workshop is aimed to discuss the status quo of the iron ore market and share insights with attendees into what solutions should be taken to overcome steel mills and iron ore traders` plight.

This workshop will start with a speech on “Supply and Demand Analysis of Chinese Iron Ore Market in 2014” by Mysteel senior iron ore analyst and follow with multilateral dialogues among Chinese steel mills, traders, overseas miners and financial institutes.

Topics that may be involved during the dialogue session include, but not limited to:

1) Impact of tight capital on steel mills` changes of iron ore purchase strategies

2) The price volatility caused by iron ore oversupply and low-growth Chinese demand

3) Impact of environmental protection policies on steel prices

4) Risk management by resort to financial tools

2:30-5:30 pm WORKSHOP B

Project Introduction of Emerging Iron Ore Miners

High-level iron ore prices of main iron ore producers and shrunk profits of steel products are the main driving factors that put steel mills in the dilemma. Seeking for more valuable iron ore products from more countries becomes one feasible way for steel mills to better reduce their raw material costs. Traders correspondingly are rather eager to obtain first-hand iron ore resources directly to consolidate their market share and increase their competitive forces. This workshop is hereby aimed to gather emerging iron ore miners over the globe to have direct talks.

The workshop expects emerging iron ore miners from Southeastern Asia, Australia, North America and Africa to deliver speeches. With growing use of Iranian iron ores, the workshop also invites Chinese steel mills to introduce their typical values, analyze their market supply & demand, share precautionary measures of Iranian ore trade, and give suggestions of use.

The workshop also includes the presentation of Mysteel Domestic Iron Ore Cost Report to compare the competitiveness of China`s domestic iron ore and overseas iron ores.

1:30-2:30 pm WORKSHOP C

E-commerce Platforms for Iron Ore

Low-level profitability in the steel industry provides great opportunity for E-commerce enterprises and such enterprises are impacting the transition of trade mode for both iron ore and steel products.

This workshop includes theme speeches of Mysteel`s thoughts on structuring new trade mode and development trends of E-commerce in the steel industry. In the following dialogue session, it introduces and discussed Mysteel`s iron ore E-commerce platform with steel mills, traders, financial institutes, etc.

2:30-5:30 pm WORKSHOP D

Impact of Iron Ore Financialization on Steel Mills` and Traders` Behaviors

The iron ore industry is increasingly featured with financialization. Chinese exchange`s iron ore futures and overseas exchanges` iron ore swaps & options are providing choices of risk managements and impacting involved enterprises` business strategies.

This workshop consists of two sections with one discussing the iron ore futures launched on Dalian Commodity Exchange and the other discussing iron ore derivatives of swaps and options. It is aimed to illustrate the beneficial functions of such derivatives to better iron ore market participants` operations and let more enterprises realize the importance of utilizing derivative tools via viewpoint and experience sharing.

For the first section, senior delegate from Dalian Commodity Exchange will give a detailed interpretation of iron ore futures delivery; and delegates from futures companies will elaborate how to run their business better by the combination of futures and their spot cargoes. Also steel mills, futures companies, traders, etc. will express their opinions and experiences of futures trading.

For the second section, overseas exchanges and brokers will elaborate the application and development of iron ore swaps and options; and then talk about how enterprises should utilize financial derivatives, together with steel mills and traders.
